Description

Entry for :iconkisekimanga: contest. Their website here: [link]

Shame.

Covering my face with lies,
I am ashamed of my true self
And yet ashamed of my shame.
Spiraling into a vicious cycle
I smother my feelings
Beneath my smiles.

EDIT (7/24/10): Added some dark blue in the shading, smudged the makeup across the line a bit and thinned out some of the lines. Thanks for the critiques, guys! ^ ^

Now do you see why I only showed half of her face? XD

Fullview if you want to see the pretty tears. Hey, I spent a long time getting them right. >.>

My entry for =KisekiManga's contest, "Emotions". It was sort of inspired by something I discovered about myself recently - I hide my feelings because I'm afraid to offend other people.
Wow... this is probably the first time I've ever spent so much time on a background. Actually, no, this is probably the first time I've ever spent so much time on a single drawing. I'm so glad I took the time to do it. The work is really worth it. I might fix it up a bit more later, since I still have another eight to nine days before the contest deadline. For now... I'm going to take a long break.

By the way, could someone please remind me to email a high-res copy of this to kisekimanga@gmail.com before July 31? Thanks. ^ ^

Wow! This is so cool! I can see all the time you put into it. I love the look on her face, the expression, the story behind it, it's all great!! I think my favorite part would probably be the broken mirror in the back. A few things, though. It helps to add a bit of color, such as purple or blue (any cool color, really), in the shadows. If you have some in there already, add more. It does a lot in a picture. i live the way you did the hair. I can never get the hair i draw to look just right. :/ But it appears that you have got a style for hair down. The background is wonderful. GREAT work. I hope to see more from you ^^
