Does Beauty Exist in the World or in Us?
In the comments section over on Doodle Alley, I recently had a great discussion with an illustrator named Mike over my recent comic essay called Hug the Elephant. Apparently Mike has lived in Japan and studied Japanese like me-- so I'm sure we've got a lot in common, but we couldn't be farther from each other in regards to our views on beauty. Here's a piece of our discussion-- it's kind of long but very interesting. I've got plenty more points to add, but I wanted to pause here and invite you to join in. What's your opinion? What do you think about beauty?

I agree and disagree with a lot of your points, but I would still argue that be
Since the time for painting have not been there I thought I'd share some quotes that helps keeping me motivated.
"Learn the rules, and then learn how you can break the rules to improve your drawing."
"We all have bad drawings inside us, its just the matter of getting them out."
"First you get good, then you get fast, and then you get good and fast."
Some inspiring shit, right!!?

Art School or State School?
Hey Friends, I published this on Doodle Alley already, but I thought you guys might benefit from this kind of discussion too. Let me know what you think!
Hi Stephen,
I've been (quietly) following your cartoon essays for a while--I adore them and appreciate you sharing them.
I imagine you get a lot of emails from people asking about creative direction, their meaning in life, existential angst, etc. And I know you're a cartoonist and not a licensed therapist (although hey, I never claimed to know everything about you), but I was hoping you'd be able to help me.
I'm pursuing a career in comics. I *wish* I could say that I was attending the S

Tutorial: How to find MMD model links ...
It seems a lot of people really do have trouble finding models that they've seen and like for MMD. I have a lot of people who visit my Deviant Art gallery asking for links and this can get irritating as I am not in the habit of collating links. However, there is a percentage of people who genuinely are new to MMD and really have no idea, and it is for these people that I am writing this brief tutorial.
Almost all models available for MMD exists somewhere on the Internet for download with perhaps the following exceptions:
Those that are sold commercially (Windows 100% models)Those that were taken out of circulation by their creatorsThose that

When recently asked how his political candidate would explain certain positions taken during the
nomination process with contrary positions to be taken during the general election, the campaign chief
replied that stated political positions were “like an Etch A Sketch,”—meaning they could simply be
flipped over, erased and begun over from scratch.

“When I left high school, I had all my plans to go to college, but I had no money. And I decided then, the best thing for me to do is not worry about getting money to go to college — I will educate myself. I walked down the street, I walked into a library, I would go to the library three days a week for ten years and I would educate myself. It’s all FREE, that’s the great thing about libraries! Most of you can afford to go to college, but if you wanna educate yourself completely, go to the library and educate yourself. When I was 28 years old, I graduated from Library.”

Like receiving a gold medal
I looove the Olympics  ... unfortunately this little detail of having a full time job prevents me from watching them as much as I would like.. but one must eat huh? ;P
I follow the swimming events with special interest, probably because I'm a swimmer myself. I was watching the finals yesterday when Chad LeClos from South Africa beat Michael Phelps in the 200 m Butterfly.
When he touched the edge and turned to see the results he couldn't believe he won, you should have seen him! his expression was priceless! He was NOT expecting to win. And not only that, he was crying when his national anthem was playing while receiving his medal. H
